Dance Workshops

Circle dance
  • In all of the earlier societies which experienced themselves as communities, dancing in a ring was at the heart of life. People danced not to show off but to connect and celebrate their society.
  • Today this dancing goes a step further, drawing on music and dances from all continents, celebrating global human society.
  • For many participants there is also a dimension which can be described as spiritual. A "defragmentation" as body, mind, and feelings are harmonised. This may culminate in an unexpected sense of wellbeing and peace.
  • They have collected a library of rare recorded music for both traditional and contemporary circle dances. They include songs and live music played on accordion, guitar and frame drums; evocative music from all continents.
  • Anyone of any age or ability can circle dance. Each dance is taught, there is no audience and everyone is welcome. So come on your own or with a friend (you do not need a partner) and join in.
  • There is a worldwide network of groups offering circle dance, sometimes known as sacred/circle dance. To get more info or to find a local class see www.circledancenetwork.org.uk
  • For all dance events, classes and teachers in central Scotland, please go to www.cscd.org.uk

Cheiron is one of Stefan's own choreographies. Cheiron is the centaur, and the dance represents both the measured, dignified part of human nature and the wild excitable side, and the quest to honour and integrate both. (music by Corvus Corax)
