UK doctors can now prescribe dance instead of anti-depressant pills. Teachers & enthusiasts, let's put together a brief fact-based statement about circle dance.
It requires no partner and no special aptitude. Suits people of all ages and body types - and has a calm, mindful dimension to balance the excitement. A perfect fit for doctors and patients of all ages.
Malka (Stefan's first short film) is about to be screened at her 15th International Film Festival and has just been featured in a newspaper.
Ipswich artists take short-film worldwide
Some beautiful images of our week in L'Hameau de l'Etoile near Montpellier in Southern France.
We'll be back there again 1st - 8th September 2020.
‘Malka’ is a song, a circle dance and a short film, created by Stefan, and dedicated to refugee children worldwide.
The poignant film was produced in collaboration with artist Lois Cordelia and film editor Tony Mounter (a fellow dance teacher) and has been used successfully in fundraising events.
Malka has just had her first vodka (hic!) having been selected for a film festival in Moscow. Other film festival showings have been in Germany, Greece, India, Israel (Nazareth), Romania, UK (London) and USA (Woodstock, Washington and Delaware). Where next?!
Malka recently won a commendation + Best Music Award at Kolkata Shorts Film Festival: Calcutta.

Wowww! Paros dance week is almost full for next year already!
The dance linked to below, Rosanka, is one of the new collection I introduced in Paros this year; a homemade dance to upbeat music from Poland. The humorous love song features an unruly horse and a rose garden . Affectionate credit to the dance Walenki which inspired the first part of the dance.
Structured dance is the best multivitamin + antioxidant with the added benefits of enjoyment and friendship.
With a growing body of research, doctors, educators and policy makers will rapidly start recommending and funding it for social and individual wellbeing.
In the world's surviving indigenous and traditional societies EVERYBODY dances regularly. They really know what they are doing!

Between what I call right
and you call wrong,
between you and me,
between day and night
and storm and calm,
between art appreciation, fine dining
and daily chores,
between useless surveys
and those red and blue piecharts
and similar things
that we call our reality,
let’s plant seedlings,
let’s light candles in those gaps.
Let’s cover the chasm
between you and me
in rose petals and birdsong,
let’s have clear pathways,
without clouded thoughts,
Let’s stop blowing everything up.
Between us and them,
between excess and moderation,
love and hate,
let us have trust. In our heart of hearts,
let us have trust.
Let’s cover the distance between us
in small things,
gestures of loving.
Dream of peace,
my brother, my sister,
just for tonight,
let’s all dream of peace.
'Wings' 2017 included a variety of live music thanks to many people who sang and brought instruments.
Fortunately Lizzie Vee caught one musical moment on film with Peter Brown on harmonica and me accompanying on the ivories. It's fun watching the dancers in the mirror! Can you see which dance they're doing?

A message from Stefan:
There is a tsunami of displaced families seeking safety, water, food and shelter. We who have all those basic needs met don't know what to do.
I don't have a 'fix' but do have a need to remember that each individual child in each family is a fully indvidual person as I am, as my grandkids are. Whatever I can do for any individual or group seeking refuge I will try to do, keeping my heart and feelings open.
Listen to an interview with Lois and Stefan on bbc.co.uk.
Planning an event in Norwich too.
