heartstrings - episode 8

RIVER OF LIGHT

In this choreography the hand movements are in 4 parts. Each holds meaning.

Facing right, hands rise past face and circle out and down

-          Unfolding: expanding into the Universe. Exploring far and wide, including the ‘inner world’ of thoughts, imaginings, feelings and sensations.

Facing left, hands rise wide circling high, then down to the centre of the body

-          Enfolding: embracing the diverse and paradoxical Universe, taking it all into the heart.

Facing centre

-          Left hand holds lotus petals as the right scatters love and abundance (then change hands)

Stepping back from centre

-          Right hand to heart, then left, receiving gratefully whatever comes to you

The song is a Tibetan Buddhist blessing and the overall intention of the dance is to move towards wholeness, peace and integration.

Om mane padme hum   ཨོཾ་མ་ཎི་པ་དྨེ་ཧཱུྃ     The jewel in the lotus which symbolises eternal wisdom

Stefan
